I didn't have letters this week, just numbers 0-1. So we had some number fun! We read books about numbers and rhyming, then did some worksheets. Then we worked on last name recognition and spelling. We also charted the kids' last names, seeing who had the longest, shortest, and how many people shared the same number of letters in their last names.

Then we talked about dinosaurs and fossils some, watched a video on fossils, and made a fun snack which didn't work out as well as I had hoped. The kids made "fossil" impressions on sugar cookie dough. But I think I let them handle the dough too much and it got warm and didn't hold the fun shapes they had made in them. But they had no problem eating them anyway! I had planned on having them match up the shapes in the cookies with the objects used to make the shapes, but oh well!

We also looked at a fossil.

On Wednsday, we had a day all about Easter. Well, after we did some real work with some worksheets! We talked about the real meaning of Easter, and I have to say, we have some smart kiddos! They knew the whole story about Jesus and his tomb.

We made Easter baskets, and did a paper mache egg project that produced cute results.

For snack, the kids got to assemble! If you ever want a quick sweet treat, try this. They turned out yummy! The kids dipped a marshmallow in melted butter, then cinnamon, and "buried" it in a crescent roll. We talked some more about Jesus and how they put him in a tomb and gaurded the tomb.

Then the kids took turns "gaurding" our snacks! They really liked doing this.

While we waited for the snacks to cool, we did a science experiment. The kids told me their theories of what they thought would happen when we put a Peep in the microwave, then we watched the amazing results! And ate them too!

Still waiting for the snacks to cool, we played a fun guessing game. We took turns shaking eggs to guess what might be inside, then we checked to see what was really in there!

When the snack was cooled, I asked the kids to break it open and see what was inside. The marsmallow was gone, just like Jesus' body. We talked about the resurrection and what it means for us. Again, very smart kiddos.

We had a lot of fun this week! Hope you all have a great Easter!
